Nance Larsen is a veteran C-suite and boardroom adviser on reputation risk; crisis/threat management; crisis immunization; and strategic communications. Her expertise addressing and mitigating high risk scenarios runs the gamut from government investigations and regulatory inquiries, to consumer product recalls; environmental disasters; workplace violence; civil, criminal, and class action lawsuits; and activist attacks.
As a communication strategist and trusted thought leader, Larsen is known for being a big picture, critical thinker who is unafraid to ask tough question and transparently address issues. Her ability to connect the dots, assess, and rapidly deploy effective directives in real time sets her apart. For more than three decades, she has applied these skills to enhance brand equity and advance the reputation of government, nonprofit, and private sector organizations. Larsen’s experience in high-stakes, high-profile arenas has bolstered reputations and maintained/regained stakeholder trust during emotionally volatile events including workplace fatalities, natural disasters, and environmental spills. Her work with multinational companies operating within politically charged environments and complex industries includes natural resources, transportation, government, and consumer products.
Larsen is a two-term chair of the Public Relations Society of America’s Board of Ethics & Professional Standards. She is also a recognized topic expert in the effects on society of disinformation. An advocate for inclusion, Larsen is a 20-year crisis communication volunteer for Special Olympics Worldwide. In this capacity, she was honored with the National Volunteer Service award by President George W. Bush. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Arizona State University, and is distinguished as a PRSA Fellow.
